From a Ripple to a Wave:
A dive on Early Excellence

From the very beginning, Atty. Migs’ story has been one of purpose, passion, and relentless curiosity. She started her journey at Fordham University in New York, earning dual degrees in Political Science and Economics—a powerhouse combination that gave her both the heart for governance and the mind for strategy.

Determined to make a real impact, she took on the challenging Juris Doctor–MBA Joint Consortium Program of Far Eastern University and De La Salle University. The result? She graduated Valedictorian, earning the Gold Medal for Academic Excellence—a reflection of both brilliance and hard work.

Her quest for growth didn’t stop there. Atty. Migs honed her skills in Arbitration at Harvard Kennedy School, then deepened her global legal perspective through studies at Oxford University, King’s College London, and Columbia University in Paris.

By 2019, she passed the Philippine Bar Examination—not just to practice law, but to redefine it. For her, the law isn’t just a profession—it’s a platform to serve, to educate, and to spark meaningful change.

Entering the Legal Profession:
From Classroom to Courtroom

Shortly after passing the Bar, Atty. Migs co-founded Nograles Ilagan Cayco Aban & Dabi (NICLD) Law Firm in Davao City. As Managing Partner, she helped establish NICLD as a trusted practice specializing in civil law, business law, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). They always have a client-centric approach focused on problem-solving over prolonged litigation.

Her passion for ADR also led her to become an active member of the Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution (PICCR) and the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc. (PDRCI). Through these roles, she has helped parties resolve conflicts amicably, reinforcing her belief that the legal system should first and foremost solve problems, not prolong them.

But the courtroom was never the only place where she wanted to make a difference. Believing that legal empowerment starts with education, Atty. Migs transitioned into teaching. She has taught law and business courses at multiple institutions, including:

  • Ateneo de Davao College of Law
  • Rizal Memorial Colleges School of Law
  • St. Thomas More School of Law & Business
  • University of Mindanao – College of Business

In the classroom, she doesn’t just teach statutes and case law, she shares real-world insights, mentors future lawyers, and instills in her students a sense of duty to serve. It’s a role she often calls “one of the most rewarding parts of my career,” because it allows her to shape a new generation of legal minds who see the law as a tool for transformation.
